In lecture you saw that a signal is a function, and that a system takes an input signal and produces an output signal. In Transformations and Transformations II you read outputs built by shifting, scaling and reversing a signal, and by adding two such copies together.
These two demos start exactly there and change one thing: instead of being told which operations produced an output, you have to find them. Both run in the browser, need no setup, and record nothing.
- Learn the system — an input signal, a target output, and a system with three unknown weights. Set them by hand, then let a search do it, then hand the same system a signal it has never seen.
- Four systems to find — the same idea with the difficulty turned up: awkward weights, then seventeen of them, then a recording made in a room, then a target that cannot be produced exactly.
